See an imaginary finish line. By running to this certain landmark (a mile marker or 10 more houses, etc.) you can really motivate yourself to keep going. Then after you reach that landmark, set another goal. This will help you to break your runs into shorter segments and tricks your mind into thinking you are going to quit at the next landmark. Tell yourself just one more mile post or one more shadow in the road what ever you see in front of you that will keep you going.
Do something that you love and do it with a partner
Whether it is riding a bike or hiking up a mountain, if it is something you love, it doesn’t feel like work. Do it with a friend and it doubles the pleasure and fun of it. It will distract you when it gets painful where as without a friend there you might turn around and go home. Pretend you are training for a marathon and challenge each other. Make it fun!
Plan to meet 3 times a week or whatever your schedule permits.
Listen to music while you exercise
Put on your i-pod and your jogging outfit and away you go. Just putting on the outfit can really get you motivated. Once you have your bike shorts or hiking shoes on you are not likely to then sit down and watch T.V. Music is another motivator, listen to some upbeat music that will get you going while you put your outfit on, then once you are out the door put on your headphones and feel how much easier it is to jog or do the treadmill to songs you love. Anchor the feelings of an exhilarating workout to a particular song.
Listen to “Motivational Workout” self hypnosis MP3’s or CD’s
Make your life easy, listen to them as you are turning off the light at night and fall asleep to it. You will wake up in the morning refreshed and feel like exercising without even having to talk yourself into it.

- Decoding the Disciplines | First Year Learning Initiative – Learning a new academic discipline is what Middendorf and Pace call Cognitive apprenticeship which, according to them, can be compared to learning to function in a foreign culture. Even highly trained scholars, the authors contend, are challenged when taken out of their own fields. If this is true for trained scholars when they explore fields other than their own, it will be true for students in virtually every field because they are experts of none.
- Wii Fit Workout is wonderful | Spartan Times – Who would have imagined that you could play Nintendo and work out at the same time? Not me, but now I have realized that the Wii Fit system makes it possible for me to stay fit as well as have fun for a pretty reasonable price of about $100. Take it from me, not a very big fan of video games, I absolutely love this game. It is so entertaining, but best of all, I can feel it toning and stretching certain parts of my body.
- In defense of (Jp –> JJP) | Certain Doubts – Posted on September 27, 2011 by Dougherty I am now more attracted (than ever, not than not) to the idea that when a proposition is justified for one, so is the proposition that that proposition is justified. This would be a significant change in perspective if it continued (it might even reverse my views on some matters of religious epistemology (reflection upon which brought me to this post)). Below the fold, I make some clarifications and discuss Greco’s objections to Jp JJp.
