How do I keep my New Years Resolutions?

Ok so it’s January 20th. Are you still thinking about your new years resolutions or have you forgotten them already? If you haven’t started your program for the new year then make sure it’s not lost till next year.

It seems the 1st of the year we are motivated and ready to go and then as we settle back into our work routine we settle back into our old habits as well. You say you want to exercise but you tell yourself everyday that there just isn’t enough time, you have too much to do. I guess we really need to ask ourselves; is time for ourselves, our health and well being less important than a lunch date with a friend or finishing a report that isn’t due till next week? Even if you only take a half hour a day it lets your sub-conscious know that you mean what you say when you decide to start an exercise program or spend more time with your family.

Your sub-conscious mind is there to help you accomplish your goals and it does what you say you want. If you say you want to smoke and you love smoking it will help you accomplish that goal. If you say you want to exercise and lose weight it will help you do that but you need to make it primary in your mind and use daily affirmations till your sub-conscious takes over and it becomes a natural part of your daily life and not a struggle anymore. In order to make changes in your life you need to convince your sub-conscious mind that you really want to make a change.

Your present desire to quit smoking or begin an exercise program has to be stronger than the old desire to live your life with your habituated behaviors and any happiness that brought you. You will have to convince the sub-conscious mind that you really don’t enjoy smoking anymore! The subconscious mind relates best to imagery and symbols. You might visualize yourself hiking up a mountain that you haven’t been able to hike because of your old smoking habit or something else that you would love to do once you quit. See yourself as if you have already quit and say to yourself “I am a person who used to smoke, I no longer smoke, I am free now.” When you see things that you want in your life as if they have already happened it helps your subconscious believe it too. Say it with self-confidence and add some powerful affirmations that would work for you. Transformation occurs when you change your mind about who you are. Affirmations can help you do this. Say them till you believe them!

So let’s get going it’s only the 20th of January, if you think you are wavering on your new years resolution get yourself back on track!

But nah, baby, you magic.”“False alarms and false starts / all made better by the sound of your heart,” “All the pain over the last time / I prayed so hard it was the last time.” “The most amazing feeling I feel, words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real / Baby, I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you.

It is great news that they brought a healthy baby to term but so many mothers who have one and maybe many miscarriages suffer such a private loss. In fact many people are afraid to tell anyone they are pregnant before the 3rd month, just in case. Our society seems to render miscarriage invisible, no one wants to talk about it. The first trimester is when a woman does the work of creating the baby. Every organ in the baby’s body is formed, and the mother can experience extreme fatigue and nausea. Women need to be supported through this vulnerable period where they were already planning and dreaming, talking to their fetus, and maybe even considering a name. After a loss it’s normal to feel shock, grief, depression, guilt, anger, and a sense of failure and vulnerability.

The days, weeks, and even months following a loss can be incredibly difficult and painful. If you are someone who has experienced a miscarriage, first know that it is not your fault, it can happen to anyone. Be open and honest with your partner, remember he is going through it too and might need your support as well. Men and women grieve differently, your husband may be holding his grief inside. There is no right or wrong way to deal with grief, you will need each other to find your own way. Allow yourself to feel the sadness, don’t try to get over it quickly. Allow yourself to experience the waves of grief as they come.

Most people want to say something comforting but don’t know what to say. Try not to take it personally if they say the wrong thing or nothing at all. Sharing your story will allow you to feel less alone and help you heal. You may be surprised who comes out and shares their story of miscarriage with you, that you never knew about. Miscarriage is such a common trauma, there is no reason to be alone with it.

Help dealing with grief and loss.

It’s that time of year to make your New Years resolutions! After overeating and overspending,   Christmas is followed by the austerity measure known as New Year’s resolutions.

Most people don’t know where to begin making the change they want in their life they just know that they want to make changes for the better in their life. Hypnosis and New Year’s resolutions go hand in hand because a detailed action plan is what is needed for success in keeping your resolutions.

The American Psychological Association cites research which shows that nearly two-thirds of resolution-makers will give up on their goal at the six-month mark. Seeing a hypnotherapist to help you with your plan can be the best way to make sure you are successful with your goals, whether it be loosing weight or changing jobs. Number one it has to excite you, there’s no sense in making a new year’s resolution just for the sake of making one. If you can’t pinpoint what excites and motivates you about a daily exercise program or finally organizing your office, then you might have some more self-examination to do.

Most of us think that change is difficult. We know what we want but not knowing how to get there is always the overwhelming reason most people don’t follow through with their resolutions.

It’s important that people make their healthy resolutions simple, specific and action-oriented, to help keep them on target. Make simple changes to your nutrition plan, such as a goal to eat at least 3 salads

a week or walk every other day for 20 minutes. Make sure it is something that you will do. If you make it too difficult you will give up before you even begin.

An example would be to schedule at least two exercise appointments per week for 2 months. Schedule it on your smart phone or your calendar like you would any other appointment. Taking time for yourself is just as important  as any other scheduled event whether it be with the dentist or a lunch date with a colleague. Setting it for 2 months means there’s an end-point and you can reassess after that time if this resolution is working for you of if you’d like to change your plan.

If you have clear picture of what you want to achieve, why you want it, and how to get there, keeping a resolution through to the end of the year is a lot easier. Get the support you need to make your goals happen, we all need a little help once in awhile. Good Luck and enjoy your new year!
